PLEASE NOTE: Enough Room is currently only operating in Sydney as a pilot program. We hope to operate in other states by the end of the year.
The first step is a simple sign-up to the site. This is only an initial step to make you an official member! Extra details come later.
Next, head to the home page, log-in, and then you must complete your profile, including some personal details, security checks, guest preferences, and spare-room information.
To make learning more manageable, we've split our training into 4 parts, which cover asylum seeker legalities and experiences, and tips on how to be a good host.
We've also provided all the tutorial information, plus more details, as a downloadable pdf. This also outlines our emergency and support procedures.
There's already heaps of great resources out there an asylum seeker issues and experiences, so we've also provided a bunch of links to other brilliant websites and media.
Once you think you've got your head around all this, just fill in the form on the My Profile page, and we'll activate your account, making it searchable by our partner agencies.
Depending on your guest preferences, profile, etc, you may be waiting for a while before you get a call. You can change your room's availability at any time, e.g. if you go on holiday.
When one of our partner agencies finds the right person for you, they will contact you by phone or email. It is still up to you whether you accept their offer to meet.
If you agree to meet, you will be able to get to know the staff of a particular agency, and get to know your guest a little. Let them know when and where is best for you!
Working out a suitable agreement may seem daunting, but don't worry, the agency will be ver helpful, and we've also provide some documents to help in your discussion.
Once you've worked out an agreement with your agency and guest, you can start! If you need extra furniture, people like Refugee Ute Project can help.
The way you live together is completely up to you, but if you have any questions or need help, your agency will be there to help you along the way.
Once your guest has found a permanent place to live, or the agreed time comes to an end, contact your agency to let them know.
If the whole experience wasn't enough for you, and you still want to care in this way for asylum seekers, just reactivate your account and an agency will contact you when ready...
